M.I.A. Line Launched!

M.I.A.’s awaited new clothing line has finally been launched on her website! It contains t-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, leggings, jackets, tank tops and body suits, all in M.I.A.’s signature style. The clothes are really cute! My favorites are the “Mexico Bodysuit” and “Afrika Leggings.” I love the colors and patterns. My only complaint is the price-point. $75 for a t-shirt and $85 for leggings is a bit much - when you’re broke! Check out her site HERE

Asli Filinta

Trends come and go, but beauty is forever. And the collection from Asli Filinta is Beautiful!! I especially love the hats! They are colorful and unique yet timeless. The designer is originally from Turkey and did some studying at Parson’s School of Design. All of her designs have an exotic flair and she says that the common belief within the collection is anti-conformity. I want that hat!!

21MC

21MC stands for 21st Century Maroon Colony. Back in the day, the term Maroons was used to describe a group of runaway slaves in the West Indies, South America, Central America and North America. Here is an excerpt from the website - “The patterns, rhythms, textures, and colors of Africa and Her diaspora, passed on to us by our ancestors, inform the way we create our collections and the way we wear ourselves on the streets. Each collection 21MC creates, tells of our rebellions on the plantations, and our survival in the cities of the beast (the “1st” World).”
